Carter Kelly

Carter Kelly joined the USI Women’s Soccer coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season, assisting as the goalkeeping coach and with other aspects of the program.

In Kelly's first season as an assistant in 2025, the Screaming Eagles had their best season of the Division-I era. The team recorded nine overall wins and 14 total results, the most for USI since moving up to Division I in 2022. USI also made history in 2025 with its first-ever OVC Tournament wins and deepest run since joining the conference with a semifinal appearance. Kelly helped coach the goalkeepers toward a 1.23 goals against average and a program D-I best 10 shutouts.

Kelly is familiar with the USI Soccer program, also serving as a volunteer goalkeeping coach with the USI Men’s Soccer team. Kelly is also goalkeeper coach for the FCE United SC Academy in Evansville, Indiana.

Before coming to the Southern Indiana area, Kelly had prior coaching experience at his alma mater Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia, and Smithfield SC. He also coached at the varsity high school level for Brookville High School in Virginia.

Kelly graduated from Randolph College in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in sport and exercise studies with an emphasis in coaching and sport performance. He is working on his master’s degree in coaching and sport leadership through Randolph College. Kelly was a team captain on the Randolph College men’s soccer squad.

Kelly is a native of the Smithfield, Virginia area.
