Assistant Coach Rashinda Reed enters her second season with the University of Southern Indiana volleyball program. Reed assists Head Coach Leah Mercer in all aspects of the USI volleyball program.
In addition to her coaching duties, Reed also teaches in the USI Physical Education Department.
A native of Fairbanks, Alaska, Reed played collegiately at the University of Georgia (Athens, Georgia) from 2002 to 2003 after beginning her collegiate career at Southwestern Oregon Community College (Coos Bay, Oregon).
Following her collegiate career, Reed went on to play professionally in Europe. She began her professional career in 2005 with the VC Tirol Volleyball Club in Innsbruck, Austria. Reed also played for the El Algar Volleyball Club in Cartagene, Spain, as well as the Plantina Longa Volleyball Club in Lichtenvoorde, Netherlands.
Most recently, Reed spent a season with the Pislaploki Volleyball Club in Pihtipudas, Finland.
In addition to her playing career, Reed was the co-owner and operator of Elite Sports Network youth athletic camps. She has more than nine years of coaching experience with clubs, high schools, satellite camps, and international teams.
“I am excited to have someone of Rashinda’s caliber joining my staff,” Mercer said. “I am looking forward to what she will do on and off the court for USI volleyball.”
Reed, who is working on her master's degree in education at USI, graduated from Georgia in 2005 with a degree in psychology.
