Five-time All-American Michael Jordan begins his first season as an assistant coach on the men's and women's cross country/track & field team in 2013. He will assist Head Coach Mike Hillyard in all facets of the men's and women's distance programs while pursuing his degree in nursing from USI.

Jordan completed his running career at USI this past spring as the program’s all-time leader in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as well as the indoor 3,000 meters.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2012, Jordan won a combined six GLVC titles and was named the GLVC Runner/Track Athlete of the Week a school-record 10 times during his career with the Screaming Eagles.

An eight-time All-Midwest Region honoree, Jordan was the 2013 Midwest Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year after winning a GLVC title in the steeplechase and finishing first in the Olympic Development race in the same event at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Jordan, who earned two All-America honors in the steeplechase, an All-America distinction in cross country, and two All-America awards in indoor track & field, competed at the 2013 USA Track & Field Championships after posting a school-record and USA Track & Field Championships “B” qualifying time in the steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relays.

An eight-time All-GLVC honoree, Jordan owns the top three times in school history in the steeplechase and ranks in the top five of seven USI performance lists.
