Jalen Madison '17 begins his third year as an assistant coach for the University of Southern Indiana men's and women's track & field teams in 2020-21. He will work primarily with the throwers.

During his first two seasons at USI, Madison has seen his throwers post a combined 17 top-10 performances in the USI Track & Field Record Books.

Madison, who graduated from USI in 2017 with a degree in sports management, was a staple on the Screaming Eagles track & field team during his undergraduate career. He etched his name in the USI record books of five throwing events during his collegiate career and set the school record in the discus as a senior at the 2017 GLVC Outdoor Championships.

As a senior, Madison mentored the younger throwers on the team.

Following his career at USI, Madison served as an assistant coach/academic coordinator for the cross country/track & field teams at Division III Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri. During his time there, Madison oversaw a women's cross country team that was named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association All-Academic in 2017.

His women's cross country runners boasted the highest GPA in the country across all NCAA divisions with a 3.94 mark. The track & field student athletes broke 43 school records during his time at Fontbonne.

Madison, who is USATF Level One Certified, is currently working on a master's degree in sport management from USI. He lives in Evansville with his wife Rachel.
