Mariah Nimmo '15 begins her third year as a volunteer assistant coach with USI Women's Basketball in 2020-21. She works closely with the Screaming Eagles' strength and condition efforts.
Nimmo returns to the Eagles after spending the 2017-18 season at the University of Mary (North Dakota), where she was a full-time assistant strength and conditioning coaches as well as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee liaison. With the Marauders, she was in charge of creating, implementing and instructing annual training programs for the men's basketball, women's soccer and softball teams, while also assisting with the football program.
Prior to her stint at UMary, Nimmo was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Illinois State University from 2015-17. She oversaw the year-round training for the Redbirds' women's swimming and diving, women's tennis and men's golf teams; and assisted with women's basketball, women's soccer, men's and women's track & field, women's volleyball and football.
A two-time Academic All-GLVC honoree, Nimmo played four seasons under USI Head Coach Rick Stein, helping the Eagles advance to the NCAA II Tournament as a senior in 2015. She played in 96 games during her career at USI, earning 12 starts and dishing out 158 assists.
A native of Groveland, Illinois, Nimmo graduated from USI with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a minor in strength and conditioning in spring 2015. She earned her master's degree from Illinois State in kinesiology and recreation--psychology of sport and physical activity.
Nimmo also is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification (SCCC) from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.Â
