Assistant Coach Katie (Roberts) Wilson, entering her second season with the University of Southern Indiana softball coaching staff in 2003, is no stranger to the Screaming Eagles’ softball program.
A native of Lafayette Indiana, Wilson led the Eagles to a 36-17 record last season. She finished her senior season with an 18-9 record and a 1.25 earned run average en route to her fourth All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection.
In addition to her dominance on the mound, Wilson also was a team leader at the plate. She was fourth on the squad in 2001 with a .325 batting average and third on the team with 27 runs batted in.
Wilson finished her career as the school’s all-time leader in wins (71), strikeouts (514), and innings pitched (729.2). She is second all-time at USI with 90 complete games and 28 shutouts, while her 1.39 ERA and 78 RBI rank third all-time at USI. She also is fourth all-time at USI with 31 doubles.
Wilson graduated in the spring of 2002 a bachelor’s degree in art. She is married to Adam Wilson, and her sister Ginnie Roberts (Lafayette, Indiana) plays on the team.
