Biography
2011-12: Earned Academic All-GLVC honors after playing in seven games and averaging 6.1 minutes per appearance as a freshman...contributed 2.7 points and 1.0 assists per outing...recorded a season-high nine points and two steals in USI's win over Mid-Continent...had a season-best three assists in USI's win over Principia and a season-high two rebounds against Wisconsin-Parkside.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Vincennes Rivet High School (Vincennes, Indiana) where she was a member of the 2011 IHSAA Class A state championship team...was named the
Evansville Courier & Press All-Southwestern Indiana Player of the Year and honorable mention All-State by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association after averaging 9.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game as a senior in 2010-11...helped lead VRHS to a 28-0 record in 2010-11 and to combined 77-3 record in her final three seasons...a three-time All-Blue Chip Conference performer, Young averaged 8.2 points and a team-best 5.4 assists per game as a junior to help VRHS to the championship game of the IHSAA Class A state tournament in 2009-10...averaged 10.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore in 2008-09 as VRHS finished second in the IHSAA Class A state tournament with a 23-2 record...invited to the
Hoosier Basketball Magazine 2011 Top 60 Senior workout...was a three-time All-Area performer...also competed in volleyball and track...was an honorable mention Academic All-State performer and a three-time All-Area performer in volleyball.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Tim and Carla Young...her father, Tim, was her high school basketball coach at Vincennes Rivet.
