Graduated from New Prairie High School in New Carlisle, Indiana, where he earned eight varsity letters in cross country, basketball, and track...was a two-time IHSAA Class 3A/4A All-State and four-time All-Northern State Conference honoree in cross country...won the NSC Cross Country championship twice...was 51st at the 2011 IHSAA Cross Country Championships and 111th at the 2012 IHSAA Cross Country Championships...was a three-time All-NSC honoree as he won the conference title in both the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters as a junior and senior on the track...also helped NSC's 4x800-meter relay team to a conference championship as a freshman in 2010 and finished 17th in the 1,600 meters at the IHSAA State Track & Field Championships as a senior in 2013.
