Biography

2002-03: Earned Academic All-GLVC honors in her first season with the USI women's basketball team...became a starter after seven games, averaged 8.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 13 starts...posted double-figure scoring efforts in seven games, posting a season-high 17 points against Lewis on January 2, 2003...posted a season-high 13 rebounds against Wisconsin-Parkside on January 25, 2003...recorded double-digit rebounds twice and had one double-double...named the USI/Integra Bank Female "Student Athlete of the Year".

At USI: Arguably one of the best volleyball players in USI history, Wells was named the 2002-03 GLVC Paragon Award winner in May of 2003...Wells led the USI volleyball team to the 2002 GLVC Tournament championships, three straight GLVC Green Division championships, the 2000 GLVC regular season championship, three straight 20-win seasons, and the 2002 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional semifinals...led USI to an 87-35 overall record and a 41-22 mark in the GLVC in four seasons...2002 GLVC "Player of the Year" and was voted the GLVC "Scholar Athlete of the Year" for volleyball in 2001 and 2002...three-time first-team All-GLVC selection...third player in USI history to be named AVCA All-Region...three-time Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region selection...named third-team Verizon Academic All-District in 2002...is a four-time Academic All-GLVC selection for volleyball...USI's all-time leader in career service aces (319), kills (1,866), and digs (1,353)...ranks second all-time at USI in career-hitting percentage (.285)...fastest player in USI history to reach 1,000 career kills...led the GLVC two straight seasons in total kills (553 and 554)...set USI single-season records for digs (458) and service aces (125).

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in volleyball, basketball, and softball at Merrillville (Indiana) High School...named Most Valuable Player, first team All-Duneland Conference, and first team All-Area as a senior.
