Played at Johnson County College as a freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL:

A four-year starter at Winterset High School (Winterset, Iowa).
Helped lead the Huskies to the Iowa 3A State Tournament as a junior, the program’s first appearance in 20 years, and again his senior year.
Named Iowa 3A All-State third-team and second-team All-District as senior.
Also earned All-Racoon River Conference first-team his junior and senior years.
Finished 4-2 with 90 strikeouts in 45.0 innings with an ERA of 2.80 as a senior.
The 90 strikeouts rank as the third most in school history.
Hurled a 16 strikeout no-hitter against Boone during the season.
