Jeremy Kuester M'12 enters his 13th season as an assistant coach for USI and Head Coach Tracy Archuleta. Kuester, the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, has guided USI's pitching staff to a pair of NCAA Division II national championships.

The pitching staff, under Kuester's tutalege, broke the school records for ERA in 2013 (3.03) and 2014 (2.55), in addition to averaging 36 victories per season since 2010. The USI hurlers also were ranked fifth nationally in ERA in 2014 and 12th in 2017.  

During USI's 2016 run in the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship series, Kuester guided the Eagle hurlers to a school record 1.98 ERA during the series and saw the staff ranked 27th nationally for the season with a 3.79 ERA.  

Kuester made transition from player to coach after two seasons at the University of Evansville and two years at Kentucky Wesleyan College. He also has assisted with baseball camps at Evansville, the University of Kentucky, and Austin Peay State University.

The native of Rockport, Indiana, finished his collegiate career with the Aces and the Panthers with a 9-10 mark, while producing a 5.23 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 189.2 innings of work,. He also batted .255 with 51 RBIs and five home runs and was a member of the Aces NCAA Division I Super-Regional squad in 2006.

Kuester, who earned a master's degree in Public Administration from USI in 2012 and graduated  with a bachelor's degree in sports studies from KWC in 2009, comes from a family rich in Eagles baseball tradition. His father, Brian Kuester '81, who has been the head baseball coach at South Spencer High School (Rockport, Indiana) since 1999 and was inducted into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame as a coach in 2016, played for the Eagles (1977-80) and helped coach the team under former USI Head Coach Larry Shown. Ivan Kuester, his grandfather, also was an assistant coach for USI under Shown.

Kuester and his wife, Ashley, and their children, Bryce, Allison, and Colton, reside in Rockport, Indiana.
