Biography

Career: Finished her career tied for second all-time at USI with 20 home runs...was a two-time All-GLVC and Academic All-District V honoree.

2011: Earned first-team All-Midwest Region honors by Daktronics and the NFCA after leading the Eagles with a .382 batting average and eight home runs...also earned first-team All-GLVC honors as well as third-team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District V honors...was fourth in the GLVC in batting averaged and tied for eighth in the league in home runs...also was fourth in the conference in on-base percentage (.500), fifth in the league in slugging percentage (.675), and fifth in the GLVC in walks per game (0.58)...hit .436 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs in GLVC-only games...in GLVC-only contests, Brendel was first in the conference in home runs, total bases (64), and tied for first in hits (34); third in batting average and slugging percentage (.821); and fourth in on-base percentage (.516)...reached base safely in 43 consecutive games, including the first 42 games of the 2011 season...played and started all 43 games for USI during her senior season, recording a team-high 13 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games...had a pair of games with a season-high three hits...had a season-best four RBIs against Kentucky Wesleyan...had a season-best nine-game hitting streak in March in which she hit .536 three home runs and six RBIs...also had a stretch in which she had a hit in 23 of 25 games, recording a .481 batting average with seven home runs and 22 RBIs during that time...was the GLVC Player of the Week in April after hitting .500 with a home run and three RBIs in the Eagles' wins over UW-Parkside and Saint Joseph's...earned Academic All-GLVC honors for the second straight season.

2010: Earned third-team Academic All-District honors as well as Academic All-GLVC accolades after playing and starting 44 of USI's 45 games at second base...hit .229 and tied for third on the team with five home runs...was fifth on the team with 18 RBIs and seven doubles...had a season-high three-game hitting streak...racked up a season-high four RBIs against Maryville...recorded at least two RBIs in five games and had at least three RBIs in four contests...had eight multi-hit games, including a season-best 3-for-3 effort against Missouri S&T in the GLVC Tournament.

2009: Earned second-team All-GLVC honors in her first season with the Screaming Eagles after leading the Eagles in home runs (7) and finished second on the team in batting average (.307) and RBIs (26)...had 11 multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games...had a season-high five game hit streak on two occasions...hit .389 during most recent five-game hit streak...finished the season with a three-game hitting streak...had her batting average as high as .320 in the early part of April.

TRANSFER: Transferred from Rend Lake College (Ina, Illinois) where she hit .388 with eight doubles, six triples, five home runs, and 46 RBIs as a freshman in 2008...led Rend Lake in batting average, triples, home runs, and RBIs...also led the Warriors in the pitching circle with a 10-13 record, a 2.76 ERA, and 72 strikeouts in 154.2 innings of work.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Salem Community High School (Salem, Illinois) where she earned eight varsity letters in basketball and softball...hit .539 with six home runs and 25 RBIs as a senior in 2007 after recording a school-record .554 batting average with four home runs and 44 RBIs as a junior in 2006...was a four-time All-Conference performer...earned second-team All-State honors in 2007 and third-team All-State honors in 2006...also was named All-State Special Mention by the Chicago Tribune and was the Centralia Morning Sentinel Class AA Player of the Year in 2007.

TRAVEL: Helped her travel squad to the 2007 18U NSA World Series championship.

PERSONAL: Born February 11, 1989...daughter of Mark and Denise Brendel.
