EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer opens its Ohio Valley Conference schedule at Strassweg Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the University of Tennessee at Martin.

USI Women's Soccer (1-7-3) wraps up a brief two-match home set with Sunday's contest against UT Martin, which is the first of seven OVC matches this fall for the Screaming Eagles. USI looks for its second home result this season and its first since a season-opening 0-0 draw against Wright State University back on August 13.
 
The Screaming Eagles began OVC play last season with a 0-0 tie at UT Martin before winning their OVC home opener in the next match against Morehead State University, 1-0. USI is 0-1-3 in OVC openers since joining the conference in 2022.
 
USI enters the conference season after back-to-back matches against Big East Conference teams, tying DePaul University 1-1 on the road last Thursday before falling 2-0 at home to Xavier University last Sunday.
 
In last Sunday's tilt against the Musketeers, Xavier scored first in the 14^th minute off a rebound goal before USI held Xavier scoreless for the next 70-plus minutes. The Musketeers tacked on a second goal in the 87^th minute off a penalty kick.
 
Through the non-conference slate and 11 matches played, freshman midfielder Shea Krakowksi leads the team with three points off one goal and an assist. Krakowski is one of four players and one of three freshmen with a goal this season. Senior forward Eva Boer paces the squad with 19 shots (4^th in OVC), while freshman forward Liza Anderson and junior forward Josie Pochocki lead the team with eight shots on goal (tied for 4^th in OVC). In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Merrick Schwalbach, who matched her career high with six saves last Sunday against Xavier, has a 1.45 GAA with 46 saves (4^th in OVC) and three clean sheets (tied for 3^rd in OVC).
 
UT Martin (2-4-5) heads into OVC play after a 1-0 home win against Jacksonville State University last Sunday, with a game-winning goal scored with under 30 seconds left. The Skyhawks had 19 shots and 10 on goal while limiting the Gamecocks to just two shots. In fact, last Sunday was UT Martin's fourth straight 1-0 contest, but the first of the four the Skyhawks won.
 
Statistically, the Skyhawks rank third in the OVC with 10 goals scored but have allowed only nine goals this season, the fewest among OVC teams. UT Martin and USI are both top three in the conference in shots and shots on goal.
 
Three Skyhawks are tied for the team lead with five points this season, with three players tied with a team-best two goals apiece. Junior defender Allie Carroll and sophomore forward Addy McCleary each have two goals and an assist, while senior forward Peyton Cook has one goal with three assists. Between the posts, fifth-year senior goalkeeper Mac Titus ranks first in the OVC with a 0.82 GAA. Titus has 45 saves and three shutouts this season.
 
The all-time series between the Screaming Eagles and Skyhawks is even at 1-1-2, with last season's meeting at UT Martin ending in a 0-0 tie.
