USI continues road trip in the Music City

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer travels to Belmont University Friday to close out non-conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

USI (0-3-3) is coming off a 0-0 draw at the University of Evansville on Tuesday, earning its first result in the Mayor's Cup since 2022.


Sophomore goalkeeper Jacob English finished with five saves, including three in the final 21 minutes, to lead USI's defense. He now has an Ohio Valley Conference-leading 33 saves this season.
 
USI has five players with one goal apiece, while six players have recorded two points this season. Graduate student Garrett Morris and freshman Christian Rotundo are USI's most recent goal scorers. Sophomore Tony Murphy leads the team in assists with two.
 
The Screaming Eagles have allowed eight goals through six matches, their fewest since returning to Division I in 2022 and their lowest total through six matches since allowing five in 2018 at the Division II level.
 
Belmont (2-3-1) fell 4-3 to East Tennessee State University Saturday. The Bruins scored in the 15th, 30th and 36th minutes despite being outshot 19-14. Two of Belmont's three goals came from off the bench.
 
The Bruins' three leading goal-scorers are sophomore midfielder Paul Claes Nielsen with three goals, and graduate students John McDowell and Nate Meffored are tied with two goals apiece.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Brody Sucher protects the net for Belmont. In 516 minutes this season, he has managed 23 saves and allowed 10 goals.
