EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer freshman Lilah Katz was named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Katz earned her first weekly honor after scoring her first career goal and the game-winner in the 89^th minute in USI's 1-0 road win at Cleveland State University last Thursday. The clutch goal gave the Screaming Eagles their first win of the season. Katz had two shots in the contest and played every minute in USI's two matches last week.
 
The freshman centerback was just as impressive defensively, recording her second and third career starts. Katz won over 94 percent of her one-on-one defensive duels over the two matches, while recording 11 interceptions and five clearances. Her game-winning goal and defensive performance against the Vikings helped the Screaming Eagles post their third shutout of the season.
 
Overall, Katz has three starts in seven appearances and has played 382 minutes. Katz has played every minute in the last three matches.
 
Katz and the Screaming Eagles (1-6-2) conclude a four-game road stretch on Thursday, when USI travels to DePaul University for a 4 p.m. contest. The match will air on Marquee Sports Network.
 
After Thursday's road game, USI returns home to Strassweg Field for back-to-back matches, including a second straight match against a Big East Conference opponent on Sunday, when USI hosts Xavier University at 1 p.m. for Youth Soccer Day. USI Women's Soccer will then open OVC play the following weekend against the University of Tennessee at Martin.
