EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer is set to continue its season-opening homestand on Sunday at 5 p.m. when the Screaming Eagles host Middle Tennessee State University at Strassweg Field.
 
Sunday's game was moved to 5 p.m. from its original 1 p.m. start because of the forecast for intense heat. Admission to Sunday's match and all USI Women's Soccer home matches is free thanks to ProRehab.

USI (0-0-1) heads into Sunday's middle game of the season-opening three-match homestand coming off a 0-0 draw on Thursday night in the season opener against Wright State University. The tie was USI's first season-opening result since 2021.
 
Additionally, the shutout against the Raiders gave USI its fifth straight clean sheet going back to the end of the 2025 season. Overall, during the shutout streak, the Screaming Eagles have held the opposition scoreless for 476-plus consecutive minutes.
 
In addition to a stout defensive effort on Thursday evening, sophomore goalkeeper Merrick Schwalbach notched her second career clean sheet while making five saves in the contest.
 
The Screaming Eagles totaled 14 shots with three on goal on Thursday, while the Raiders had 15 shot attempts and five on goal.
 
Junior forward Josie Pochocki and graduate forward Payton Seymour each registered a team-high four shots. Pochocki had two of USI's three shots on goal.
 
Middle Tennessee (1-0-0) picked up a season-opening win on Thursday, capturing a 2-0 home victory against Troy University. The Blue Raiders scored both goals in the second half against the Trojans, converting off a free kick and a penalty kick. Freshman forward Ania Denham and senior attacker Hannah Murphy were the goal scorers for MTSU.
 
Middle Tennessee had 16 shots with seven on target compared to Troy's four shots and one on frame. 12 of the Blue Raiders' 16 shots came in the second half.
 
Looking back to last season, MTSU went 11-6-3 overall and 5-2-1 in Conference USA action. Murphy is one of the Blue Raiders' top returning scorers from a season ago alongside sophomore forward Alli Craig. Murphy and Craig tallied three goals apiece in 2025. In goal, junior keeper Demi Gronauer, who started and played 83 shutout minutes in Thursday's season-opening win, saw the majority of action between the posts last season. Gronauer had 14 starts with a 1.15 GAA and 38 saves last year.
 
Sunday's tilt will be the first all-time meeting between the Screaming Eagles and Blue Raiders. Middle Tennessee is one of three teams USI will see for the first time ever this season (Purdue, DePaul).
