EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Swimming and Diving was honored with a pair Summit League Swimming and Diving Peak Performer of the Week honors, League officials released Tuesday. USI competed in one meet this past week, picking up a win against Bellarmine University and Butler University.
Sophomore Jerrin Dale was named this week's Summit League Peak Men's Swimmer of the Week, the first in his career. Dale swept his individual events on Saturday by winning the 100 and 200 breaststroke. His 200 breaststroke time (2:01.85) was good for a USI Aquatic Center Record, a new program record, and sits as the top time in the Summit League this season. Dale also swam the breaststroke leg for the winning 200 medley relay squad.
Junior Gabbie Meier won her second-straight Summit League Peak Women's Diver of the Week award, which is also the second in her career. Meier posted a pair of top-two finishes vs Bellarmine and Butler. She was victorious in the three-meter diving, posting a 244.65. Meier also set a personal-record in the one-meter (237.00), finishing second.
Dale and Meier were vital parts of USI's wins this weekend, combining for 47 points.
The Screaming Eagles are next in action November 19-21 at the House of Champions Meet, hosted by Indiana University-Indianapolis.
