EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer hosts Indiana University Indianapolis in the third game of its five-game homestand on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Strassweg Field.

Saturday's match between USI (1-2-0) and IU Indy (1-1-2) marks the third straight season the two teams have competed against each other. For the past two seasons, the two teams have faced off in their opening-day matchup. IU Indy took home both victories with 3-1 wins in 2023 and 2024.
In Monday's loss against the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, USI started aggressively, with sophomore midfielder
Ahiro Nakamae taking the team's first shot just over five minutes in. Green Bay managed to score in the 38th minute, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.
USI's best opportunity came in the 62nd minute when Nakamae's penalty kick was saved by a diving goalkeeper. The Eagles continued to press, with their final attempt coming in the closing seconds. Nakamae again forced a dramatic save at the 89:56 mark. Despite their efforts, the match ended in a 1-0 loss.

Pablo Juan has scored the lone goal for the Eagles in a 1-0 victory over the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Nakamae leads the team in both shots and shots on goal with five shots and three on goal. Freshman goalkeeper

IU Indy heads into Saturday's match off a 1-0 victory over Butler University, the team's first win in 2025. The Jaguars have a 1-1-2 record, with ties against Bowling Green State University and the University of Notre Dame. IU Indy has two goals on the year, both scored by senior midfielder Youri Keijser.
After Thursday's contest, USI Men's Soccer shifts its focus as it hosts the 2025 Mayor's Cup against crosstown rival the University of Evansville on September 13. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Strassweg Field.
