EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Volleyball is set to head back on the road after a four-game undefeated homestand for a match at Tennessee Tech University on Tuesday night.
The match on Tuesday at 6 p.m. will take place at the Eblen Center in Cookeville, Tenn., and will be available on ESPN+ for those who have a subscription.
The Screaming Eagles are currently on a four-game win streak, after completing an undefeated two-weekend home stretch against the University of Arkansas Little Rock and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Right-side hitter
Carley Wright was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for her performance in USI's most recent series sweep against SIUE. The freshman tallied 31 kills, hitting a .333 percent with just nine errors over the two games. In game one, she set a career-high with 18 kills, then had 13 in the three-set sweep in game two.
In game one against SIUE, the Eagles won in five sets, moving to 3-1 in five-set challenges in the 2025 season. Freshman
Aysa Thomas tallied 48 assists and 12 digs, while junior
Ashby Willis recorded 17 kills and 14 digs, both earning double-doubles.
Following the second SIUE win, USI celebrated its seniors,
Bianca Anderson,
Keira Moore,
Jordan Troutman, and
Mariah Minor. These four have played an integral part of the building of the program and the transition to the Division I era.
Moore tallied 19 digs in the SIUE series, moving her to the third-place spot in the USI all-time career digs record book, with 1,496 total digs.
The Screaming Eagles now sit at third in the OVC rankings with a 7-3 conference record and 11-11 overall, after being picked to finish second-to-last at the start of the season.
Scouting the Opponent:
The Golden Eagles hold a 6-0 lead in the series history between the two programs. In the last match, TTU swept USI three sets to none on November 15
th, 2024. The Screaming Eagles will look to take their first-ever win against TTU in school history on Tuesday. TTU holds a 6-4 record in OVC play and 9-13 overall. They are coming off a series sweep of the University of Tennessee Martin, where they took the first game in five sets, and the second in four to win for their Senior Day.
The TTU starting lineup is made up of several seniors who top their stat boards. Senior Bella Powell leads the team in kills from the outside, with 297 for the season. She averages 3.62 kills per set, hitting at a .166 percentage. She ranks third in the OVC for kills per set. Senior Jordan Karlan ranks third in the conference for assists per set (9.52) and assists (752). Senior libero MK Roberts has tallied 260 digs for 3.17 digs per set. Head Coach Jeanette Phillips is in her seventh year at the helm.
