TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Men's Cross Country raced to a ninth-place finish out of 18 teams at the Indiana State University John McNichols Invitational Saturday morning.
Senior
Mitchell Hopf (Santa Claus, Indiana) and red-shirt freshman
Alex Nolan (Evansville, Indiana) paced the Screaming Eagles with respective placements of 21st and 46th. Hopf completed the eight-kilometer course in 24 minutes, 40.8 seconds, while Nolan crossed the finish line in 25:06.3.
Junior
Dylan Bland (Holland, Indiana) was 61st, while freshman
Jackson Collman (Bethalto, Illinois) and junior
Brady Terry (Philpot, Kentucky) were 68th and 73rd to round out the Eagles' top five finishers.
Freshmen
Landen Swiney (Du Quoin, Illinois) and
Cole Hess (Cannelton, Indiana) completed USI's top seven with finishes of 93rd and 96th in the 257-competitor field.
As a team, USI finished with 241 team points and went 3-0 against Ohio Valley Conference competition on the day. Purdue University won the team title, while Belmont University and Indiana University were second and third, respectively.
The Eagles return to action September 30 when they compete at the Live in Lou Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
