EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Volleyball (4-6) looks to go into the conference season on a high note by taking on the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Jaguars in Indianapolis, Indiana on Wednesday night. The Screaming Eagles are off to their best start since joining NCAA Division I.

Eagles prove their worth. The Screaming Eagles showed the USI faithful their progress after sweeping Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Jacksonville State in the USI Invitational. USI also put up a strong fight against Bradley in a 3-2 loss.
USI Invitational All-Tournament. Juniors
Paris Downing and
Carly Sobieralski were named to the USI Invitational All-Tournament Team. Downing finished the three-match span with 18 kills, 12 blocks, and five digs while Sobieralski earned a tournament-high 94 assists, 33 digs, and 11 kills.
20 and Over Club. Three Eagles have earned 20 or more kills/digs this season. Senior
Leah Anderson was the first when she had 20 digs in the win against New Orleans. Junior
Carly Sobieralski had 23 digs in the loss to Bradley and senior
Abby Bednar is the lone Eagle to have 20+ kills, nabbing 20 in the loss to Bradley.
Nearing 1,000. Junior
Carly Sobieralski is just 51 assists away from earning 1,000 career assists. Sobieralski started the season at 626 assists and has truly taken over the passing game, nabbing 323 assists in just 10 matches.
Consistent Starts. Junior
Carly Sobieralski has totaled 20 or more assists in all 10 matches. Senior
Leah Anderson has racked up 10 or more kills in eight matches while sophomore
Keira Moore has nabbed 10 or more digs in nine matches.
Double-Doubles. Three Eagles have secured double-doubles this season. Senior

Carly Sobieralski each have earned five double-doubles while senior
Leah Anderson has recorded three.
Nationally Acclaimed. Due to USI being in the DI reclassification period, the Eagles are not ranked in the NCAA statistical rankings. However, USI would be ranked 33rd in total digs (563) and 36th in digs per set (16.09) in the nation. Individually, junior
Carly Sobieralski would stand 44th in assists (323).
OVC Leaderboard. USI ranks third in aces per set (1.83) while standing fourth in digs per set (16.09). opponent aces per set (1.43), and opponent hitting percentage (.181). The Eagles also ranked fifth in points per set (15.49), assists per set (10.91), kills per set (11.80), and blocks per set (1.86).

Abby Bednar sits in second in points per set (4.30) and third in kills per set (3.51) and aces per set (0.51). Junior
Carly Sobieralski ranks third in assists per set (9.23) while senior
Leah Anderson stands in fifth in kills per set (3.46) and points per set (4.14). Junior

Keira Moore round out the OVC leaders with Weber being seventh in aces per set (0.45) and Moore being ninth in digs per set (3.80).

About IUPUI. The Jaguars come into the match 4-5 after getting swept in three matches at the South Dakota Tournament. IUPUI has earned 381 kills, 334 assists, and 67 aces with 462 digs and 41 blocks. The Jaguars are 50th in NCAA DI in aces/set (1.97). This will be the first official matchup between USI and IUPUI after both teams met up in an exhibition match last season where the Jaguars won, 3-2.
Leading the Jaguars. Grace Purichia leads the squad in three different categories with 265 assists, 17 aces, and 81 digs. Maia Long has added 99 kills while Emily Alan has produced 18 blocks to lead the Jaguars.
