EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer snapped its losing streak with a hard fought 0-0 draw at the University of Evansville. The Screaming Eagles go to 0-4-1 on the season while The Purple Aces are 2-0-2 after tonight.
 
USI and Evansville battled back and forth to a 0-0 draw throughout the first 45 minutes. The Eagles had a pair of great chances to score but were stopped short. Freshman forward 
Jackson Mitchell (Newburgh, Indiana) had the first shot on-goal at 18:57, while junior forward 
Zach Barton (St. Louis, Missouri) was stopped on a break away at 42:44.

 Alec Meissner (St. Charles, Missouri) was helped by the Eagles' defense and only had to make one save in the opening stanza.
 
In the second half, the Aces continued to pressure the USI defense with a 10-3 advantage in shots. Meissner stood tall in the goal for the Eagles, making four great saves on the shots on-goal and earned his first collegiate shutout. 
 
The Eagles had a chance in the 69
th minute with a direct kick just outside the box, resulting in shots by freshman midfielder 
Will Kirchhofer (Fishers, Indiana) and freshman midfielder 
Ednilson Voiles (Plainfield, Indiana).
 
Overall, the Aces had the advantage (15-6 shots; 7-1 corners) but the Eagles defense was the difference the match.

The Eagles travel to Peoria, Illinois to take on Bradley University on Tuesday, September 13th with kickoff set for 6pm. The match against Evansville will be streamed on ESPN3 while the Bradley match will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
USI holds a 2-0-1 advantage over Bradley all-time, all three matches coming from the Eagles' Division I seasons between 1992 and 1994. The Eagles took the first two meetings, 3-1 at Bradley in 1992 and 2-0 at Strassweg Field in 1993, before the programs battle to a 2-2 draw at Bradley in 1994.
