USI Women’s Basketball begins three-game road trip Thursday

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Women's Basketball begins a three-game road trip Thursday at 5:30 p.m. when it visits Truman State University for a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest in Kirksville, Missouri. The Screaming Eagles also visit Quincy University Saturday at 1 p.m. in Quincy, Illinois, before traveling to St. Charles, Missouri, Monday to take on Lindenwood University in a make-up game.

All three games will be aired live on 95.7 The Spin and on the GLVC Sports Network, while live stats, audio and video are available on GoUSIEagles.com.
 
The Eagles (12-3, 6-1 GLVC) return to Screaming Eagles Arena February 3 to take on Rockhurst University and February 5 to take on William Jewell College for Homecoming.

Spectators
Spectators are allowed at both Truman State and Quincy with the requirement of masks. However, spectators will be limited to participant guest passes only at Lindenwood.
 
Notes
• Schedule change. USI's game against Lindenwood, which was scheduled for January 6, has been moved to this coming Monday, January 31.
 
• USI ends week on down note, finishes 2-1. USI Women's Basketball fell to Lewis, 72-63, to end last week after earning a 90-59 win over McKendree last Monday and an 88-80 triumph over Illinois Springfield Thursday.
 
• Last week's leaders. Sophomore forward Meredith Raley averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.67 blocks to lead the Eagles in their three games last week. Fifth-year Senior guard Emma DeHart chipped in 11.7 points, 3.0 assists and a team-high tying 1.0 steals per contest, while junior forward Hannah Haithcock added a team-leading 3.5 assists per frame.
 
• Eagles fall out of Top 25. A week after USI cracked the Top 25, the Eagles slipped out of both the D2SIDA Top 25 Media Poll and WBCA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll. USI is still receiving votes in both polls.
 
• Stein snares 400th win. USI Head Coach Rick Stein is earned his 400th career victory with the Eagles 88-80 victory over Illinois Springfield. He's been on the sidelines for 559 of USI's 707 all-time wins during his 31 seasons on the bench, 23 of which have been leading the program after eight seasons as an assistant.
 
• Gatling 500. USI Assistant Coach Randa Gatling also hit a milestone Thursday. Gatling, who has been on the bench for all of Stein's 400 wins, picked up her 500th career win including her 100 wins as a player at USI.
 
• Season Leaders. Raley has taken over the team lead with 12.1 points per game, while DeHart and Haithcock are each averaging 11.6 and 11.3 points per appearance, respectively. Junior guard Addy Blackwell, who leads USI with 1.8 steals per game, is contributing 9.9 points per outing and is tied with DeHart for the team lead with 2.2 assists per contest. Senior forward Ashlynn Brown, who is averaging 9.2 points per contest, leads USI with 5.7 rebounds per game, while Raley is chipping in 5.5 boards per appearance.
 
• Handley reaches double-figures. Junior guard Tori Handley became the 10th different player to reach double-figures in the scoring column for the Eagles this season after scoring a season-high 10 in USI's loss to Lewis. Eight of those 10 players have scored 10-or-more points in multiple games.
 
• 20-point outings. USI has had three different players reach the 20-point plateau this season. DeHart has reached the 20-point plateau twice this season, while Blackwell and Hunter also scored 20-or-more points this season.
 
• About Truman. Junior guard Hannah Belanger averages 18.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game to lead the Bulldogs (13-5, 9-1 GLVC), who have won 10 straight games, including an upset win over then top-ranked Drury last week. Junior forward Ellie Weltha is chipping in 15.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, while senior guard Katey Klucking is contributing 11.2 points per game.
 
• About Quincy. The Hawks are 6-12 overall and 2-8 in GLVC play after defeating McKendree, 51-48, last Thursday and falling to Missouri-St. Louis, 58-37, Saturday. Junior guard Beth Matas Martin averages 12.1 points and 3.9 assists per game to lead the Hawks, who have lost four of their last five games heading into their home game against Indianapolis Thursday.
 
• About Lindenwood. The Lions (8-7, 5-3 GLVC) went 1-2 last week, sandwiching losses t Lewis (73-68) and Truman (57-47) around a 74-57 win over William Jewell. Fifth-year senior guard Julia Ruzevich averages 19.5 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists to lead the Lions, who visit Southwest Baptist and Rockhurst this weekend. Fellow classmate Devin Fuhrig chips in 13.2 points and 2.9 assists per game, while senior forward Ellen McCorkle averages 12.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per outing.
 
• Record book watch. The Eagles have two players making moves inside the USI Women's Basketball Record Books:
Emma DeHart is No. 5 on USI's all-time list for three-point field goal attempts (397), No. 9 in made three-pointers (120) and No. 14 in points (1,079) with her effort against UIndy. She needs 55 points to match Tanner Marcum for No. 13 on USI's all-time scoring list.
Hannah Haithcock is No. 45 on USI's all-time scoring list (636).
 
• Magic Mark: 75 points. The Eagles are 432-78 (.847) all-time when scoring at least 75 points. USI is 305-29 (.913) since 1996-97 when reaching the 75-point plateau.
