SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - University of Southern Indiana Volleyball earned a third season sweep of a divisional opponent enroute to its 13th victory of the season. The Screaming Eagles now own a three-match win streak heading into their final match of the regular season against the top-ranked Lewis Flyers.
After going up 2-0 on UIS to begin the day, the Prairie Stars fought back in the third set, stealing one to up end the chance of a sweep. The Screaming Eagles ultimately prevailed in the fourth set, improving to 10-6 against the Prairie Stars of UIS since 2009.
24th-ranked USI swept the season series against the Prairie Stars behind an offensive display from sophomore duo Katherine Koch and Leah Anderson. The duo combined for 26 kills, 32.5 points, four service aces, and five blocks. Koch totaled 13 kills on 35 attacks with 16.5 points and seven assists, marking three-straight matches with double-digits in both categories for the sophomore. Anderson also sent 13 kills through the UIS defense and finished just behind Koch for the match-high in points with 16.
The Eagles' offense spanned past the sophomore duo with freshman Abby Weber and junior Taylor Litteken both bombarding the Stars with nine kills each. Weber sent over two aces and totaling 11.5 points while also playing the opposite side well, laying out for 11 digs. Litteken hit .368 with her nine-kill outing, totaling 10.5 points, adding in three blocks, two assists, and two digs. Abby Bednar attacked at a clip of .875 with seven kills and Sidney Hegg recorded two kills and four blocks.
Casey Cepicky proved her distribution abilities with another 30-plus assist match, dishing out 33 while also laying out for 16 digs, sending over one kill, one ace and thwarting one Prairie Star attack.

The Screaming Eagles will close out the regular season seeking revenge on top-ranked Lewis. USI played the Flyers to open the season in late January, dropping the match in five sets, 3-2. The Flyers boast an undefeated record on the year.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, USI Volleyball will head to East Peoria for the GLVC Volleyball tournament, beginning on April 15. As announced by the GLVC, fans will be allowed at the conference volleyball tournament but attendance will be limited to 200 per match.
