EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer begins post-season action and its Great Lakes Valley Conference championship title defense Monday when it hosts Rockhurst University for the first round of the GLVC Tournament at Strassweg Field. Match time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
The Screaming Eagles, who begin tournament play as the third seed, finished the spring regular season with a 10-3-1 overall record and tied for second in league play with the University of Indianapolis. UIndy earned the second seed in the tournament due to defeating the Eagles in the season-opener in February on a last second goal.
USI, which is 5-1-1 in its last seven matches, is led by sophomore forward
Morgan Beyer, who has a team-best 16 points on seven goals and two assists. Senior forward
Maggie Winter follows with 15 points on four goals and a team-high seven assists.
Between the posts, sophomore goalkeeper
Maya Etienne leads the Eagles' defense with a 10-3-1 record and a 0.50 goals against average. Etienne also has nine shutouts this spring, two short of tying the single-season record she set last in 2019.
Rockhurst is the sixth seed in the conference tournament after posting a 7-4-3 record. The Hawks won the first meeting with the Eagles in March, 2-1, in Kansas City, Missouri. The Eagles trail the all-time series with 13-3-2.
