EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer sophomore forward
Morgan Beyer (Rossford, Ohio) scored the game-winner in overtime to give the Screaming Eagles a 3-2 win over Maryville University Friday evening at Strassweg Field. The Screaming Eagles, who have won six-straight, go to 8-4-2 overall and 6-4-1 GLVC, while the Saints are 5-7-1, 4-6-1 GLVC.
Beyer sent the Eagles home victorious by beating a defender on the left side of the Maryville goal and shot the ball into the lower right corner at 93:35. With the game-winner, Beyer is tied for second on the squad with 11 points on four goals and three assists.
The Eagles got off to a good start and enjoyed a 1-0 lead near the midway point of the first half when Beyer found the back of the Saint's goal. Beyer was assisted on her third tally of the season and first of the match by senior forward
Katlyn Andres (Louisville, Kentucky) and sophomore forward
Taylor Hall (Grayson, Kentucky).
USI enjoyed the 1-0 advantage until the final five minutes of the opening half when the Saints captured the lead, 2-1. Maryville evened the score 1-1 with a goal at 40:27 and followed it up with the second goal at 43:19.
Eagles' freshman midfielder
Avery Schone (Galena, Ohio) got USI even three minutes into the second half when she converted a penalty kick at 48:18. USI was awarded the penalty kick after Beyer was fouled in the Maryville box. Schone takes over the USI lead in scoring after tonight's match with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
The score would remain 2-2 through the end of regulation and set the stage for Beyer in overtime.

Maya Etienne (Midland, Michigan) got her sixth win of the season after facing eight shots and making four saves.
With the win, the Eagles move into sixth in the GLVC standings with 19 points, one point behind the fourth place tie that includes the University of Indianapolis and Lewis University. The top four teams in the GLVC earn the right to host a first round conference tournament match November 7.

USI completes the homestand and the 2021 home schedule when it hosts Missouri University of Science & Technology Sunday at 2:30 p.m. for Senior Day.
Missouri S&T finished Friday's action with a 6-4-3 mark, 5-3-3 GLVC, after a 0-0 double overtime tie at the University of Indianapolis this evening. The Miners are 3-2-1 in the last six matches after the tie.
The Miners lead the all-time series with Missouri S&T, 11-6-1, but USI has won the last four meetings. The Eagles took last season's match-up, 5-1, in Rolla.
