EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer fell in overtime to Truman State University, 2-1. USI drops to 2-4-2, 0-4-1 GLVC, on the season while Truman State improves to 4-2-2, 3-1-2 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles got started early after a first half goal from freshman midfielder
Avery Schone (Galena, Ohio) was rocketed into the back of the net from outside the box at the 21:20 mark.
A goal at the 83:03 mark tied the game for the Bulldogs and sent it into overtime. Truman State then scored the game winner at the 90:54 mark.
USI had a late shot from senior forward
Katlyn Andres (Louisville, Kentucky) but was stopped by the Truman State goalkeeper Beth Hopwood. Senior defender
Madeline Weston (St. Peters, MO) also had a late shot to take the lead in the 87
th minute but missed high.
USI outshot the Bulldogs 20-9 and had a 7-6 advantage in shots-on-goal. Andres led the Eagles with 9 shots and 3 shots-on-goal. Schone had 3 shots and 2 shots-on-goal.
NEXT UP FOR THE EAGLES:
USI finishes off the weekend road trip on Sunday as it heads to Quincy University. That matchup is set for a noon kick-off at John Mackenzie Alumni Field. The Eagles trail the all-time series with the Hawks 4-17. USI took down Quincy in its matchup last spring, 3-0.
