KIRKSVILLE, MO. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer handled Truman State University at Truman Soccer Park this afternoon defeating the Bulldogs 2-0. The Screaming Eagles (3-4-0, 2-3 GLVC) claim their first road victory and their second Great Lakes Valley Conference win while the Bulldogs (0-8-0, 0-5 GLVC) lose their eight straight match.
USI went into halftime tied at zero. The Eagles' offense provided four shots with two on-goal. USI's defense proved to be sound keeping Truman State to just five shots and two on-goal.
The second half proved to be USI's golden half. Sophomore forward

It only took the Eagles 15 minutes to score goal number two. Freshman forward
Zach Schoenstein (Evansville, Indiana) broke the defense open to sneak in a 2-0 lead for the Eagles. Winkler was able to assist again on the second goal.
The Eagles' offense tallied 17 shots total with eight on-goal. Senior goalkeeper
Justin Faas (Caramel, Indiana) closed with a shut-out and three saves. USI's defense kept Truman to just nine shots with three on-goal.
UPCOMING FOR THE EAGLES:
The Eagles will travel to Quincy, Illinois to battle the Hawks of Quincy University for a 2:30 pm match on Sunday.
Prior to tonight's home match against #1 University of Indianapolis, the Hawks have produced a 4-3-1 record, 2-2-1 in GLVC play. Quincy is 2-3 at home while USI is 1-1 on the road.
The Eagles are 9-12-2 against the Hawks since 2001. USI is 6-1-1 in the last eight matches versus Quincy. The last contest between the clubs ended in a 1-0 loss for the Eagles on the road in April 2021.
