EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team won the USI Alumni Opener by placing three in the top ten Friday evening at the USI Intramural Complex. The Screaming Eagles posted a team score of 46 points, seven better than second place Rend Lake College and 20 better than Division I Southeast Missouri State University.

Rey Alvarez (Danville, Illinois) was USI's top finisher, placing third with a 6k time of 18:01. Alvarez was followed by sophomore
Tim Sirbek (Hammond, Indiana), who was sixth with a time of 18:36, and sophomore
Joe Rayman (West Lafayette, Indiana), who was ninth with an 18:43 mark.
The next race for the Eagles is Indiana Intercollegiate, which is being hosted by Indiana State University on September 15.
