EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team was defeated 5-2 by Ashland University Saturday evening.
The Screaming Eagles (1-4) were able to sweep all the doubles matches earning their first point of the night. Junior
Lauryn Thompson and freshman
Chloe McIsaac took the No. 2 doubles by two games, 6-4. Sophomores
Shelby Braselton and
Kylie Skepnek also came away with a two-game margin victory, 7-5 in the No. 3 doubles. Seniors
Alex Jamison and
Lauren Hambrock were in quite the duel before taking the No. 1 doubles match 7-6 in a tiebreaker.
Hambrock continued her success as she was only Eagle to get the best of her opponent in singles with a final tally of 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.
McIsaac and Braselton took both of their opponents to a third set before falling in a tiebreaker and super tiebreaker respectively.
USI will be off next week for spring break and returns to action March 11 when they travel south to Cocoa, Florida to face off against the Titans of Eastern Florida State College. Competition is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. (CST).
