EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Women's Basketball struggled to get anything going offensively Saturday evening as it suffered a 66-45 Great Lakes Valley Conference setback to visiting Bellarmine University at Screaming Eagles Arena.
USI (7-4, 3-2 GLVC) shot just 31.0 percent (18-58) from the field and committed 23 turnovers as the Knights ended the Screaming Eagles' two-game winning streak.
Neither team could get much going early in the contest, as USI led 6-4 seven minutes into the game. Bellarmine, however, scored eight straight points to double-up the Eagles later in the first period.

Ashley Johnson each hit buckets inside the final minute of the opening frame to get the Eagles to within two (12-10) heading into the second quarter.
USI took a brief lead early in the second quarter, but a 9-0 Bellarmine run gave the Knights a 23-15 lead over the Eagles with three minutes to play in the opening half.

Ashlynn Brown got the Eagles to within four points (39-35) with a minute to play in the third period.
The Knights, however, went on an 11-0 run that lasted nearly five minutes to build a commanding 50-35 advantage. USI went 0-for-9 from the field with four turnovers during the game-deciding stretch and was outscored, 25-10, in the final period.
Johnson paced the Eagles with 13 points and three assists, while Haithcock added 12 points and six rebounds. Brown finished with eight rebounds for the Eagles, who were whistled for a season-high tying 23 fouls.
Junior guard Breia Torrens, who had 33 points in the Knights overtime win over McKendree, led all scorers with 20 points. Senior center Ally Mayhaus added 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Knights, who out-rebounded USI, 42-29.
USI returns to action Thursday at 5:30 p.m. when it travels to Kansas City, Missouri, to take on Rockhurst University.
