LEBANON, Ill. - University of Southern Indiana Women's Tennis defeated McKendree University on Friday, 4-0, snapping a nine-match losing streak and earning its first Great Lakes Valley Conference victory of the year.
The Screaming Eagles (4-12, 1-2 GLVC) were led by freshman
Rachel Anderson (Racine, Wisconsin) as she teamed up with sophomore
Lauryn Thompson (Evansville, Indiana) to seal the doubles point, then earned sealed the match for USI, defeating Alex Tinnin, 6-0, 6-1, in No. 4 Singles.

Kylie Skepnek (Algonquin, Illinois) took No. 5 Singles, 6-2, 6-0, for the third USI point after a default in the No. 6 slot. Thompson was tied at 6-6 in the first set of No. 2 Singles when the match was called, while junior
Lauren Hambrock (Terre Haute, Indiana) and junior
Alex Jamison (Floyd Knobs, Indiana) had one-set leads with one-game advantages in the second sets at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, when the match was decided. The Eagles took wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles by default.
USI heads to the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup. Competition begins at 1 p.m.
