USI visits UIndy for GLVC Tournament first round

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team is on the road for the first round of the GLVC Tournament, visiting 25th-ranked University of Indianapolis Sunday. The Screaming Eagles' first round GLVC Tournament match-up starts at 11 a.m. (CST) in Indianapolis. Match coverage for USI in the post-season can be found on GoUSIEagles.com.

The  four first-round  winners advance to the GLVC Championship Tournament semifinals November 15 at Woehrle Athletic Complex in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The two semifinal contests will be played at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (CST) November  15, while the 2019 GLVC Championship Tournament final will take place November 17 at 11 a.m. (CST) 

Week 10 – Eagle GLVC Tournament Notes
 
Eagles start as seventh seed in GLVC Tournament: The Eagles begin post-season action as the seventh-seed in the GLVC Tournament. UIndy enters tournament action as the second-seed.
 
Tough end of the season: USI starts post-season action looking to rebound from a rough end of the season, going 1-3-1 in the final four matches that included two going to overtime. The Eagles were swept during the final weekend of the regular season, falling to Maryville University and Missouri University of Science & Technology by identical 2-1 scores.
 
In the GLVC: USI leads the GLVC in points (92) and assists (32), while ranking second in goals (30). The Eagles are fifth in defense with a team 0.81 goals against average.
 
Scoring Leaders: Sophomore forward Katlyn Andres has taken over the team scoring lead with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. Junior forward Maggie Winter follows close behind with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Junior defender Madelyne Juenger has a team-high five assists.
 
Between the posts:  Freshman goalkeeper Maya Etienne leads the Eagles in goal with a 10-6-1 record, a 0.78 goals against average, eight shutouts, and 77 saves during her first collegiate campaign. Etienne is one shutout away from tying Angie Gries (1996-99) for the USI single-season record (9).
 
Schoenstein is in his 4th year: USI Head Coach Eric Schoenstein is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Eagles, producing a 39-25-8 mark, a share of a GLVC regular season title, and three-straight GLVC Tournament appearances.
 
USI vs. Indianapolis: The Greyhounds and the Eagles are tied in the all-time series, 12-12-1, after USI posted a 1-0 victory at Strassweg Field in September. The Eagles have had the advantage in recent years, posting a 4-0-1 mark in the last five match-ups.
 
UIndy in 2019: The 25th-ranked Greyhounds of UIndy, who are 13-3-1 overall and 11-3-1 GLVC, are the hottest team in the league, entering post-season action with a six-match winning streak.
 
USI in the GLVC Tournament: The Eagles are making their 12th appearance in the GLVC Tournament and are in search of their first conference tournament championship. USI is 4-12-1 all-time in the conference tournament after posting a first round win in last year's playoff versus Maryville and failing to advance on penalty kicks after tying Rockhurst University in the semifinals.
 
USI vs. the GLVC Field in 2019:  USI is 1-6-1 this season and 50-67-16 all-time versus the GLVC Tournament field.
