ST. LOUIS, MO - University of Southern Indiana Volleyball (7-2, 1-0 GLVC) took down Maryville University (4-5, 0-1 GLVC) in straight sets Friday night to open the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule.

Mikaila Humphrey (Floyd Knobs, Indiana) led a balanced attack for the Screaming Eagles, posting 10 of the team's 34 kills on the evening.

First Set - USI 25, Maryville 16
- The Eagles posted runs of 8-2 and 11-2 in the opening frame
- Freshman Taylor Litteken (Foristell, Missouri) lead USI with four kills and two blocks in the set...Litteken ended the night with eight kills
- Four Eagles posted two or more assists, setting up the offense from all angles...Sophomore Casey Cepicky (St. Louis, Missouri) led the way with three
Second Set - USI 25, Maryville 11
- USI jumped out to a 10-0 advantage in the second set, then finished on an 11-3 run to take the second set
- Senior Haley Limper (Springfield, Illinois) posted two of USI's three service aces in the set, and finished with three on the evening
- Cepciky added the third ace and eight assists in the second set, setting up kills by Humphrey, Litteken, junior Elexis Coleman (Joliet, Illinois), sophomore Alyssa Yochum (Columbia, Illinois) and freshman Sidney Hegg (Menasha, Wisconsin)
Third Set - USI 25, Maryville 17
- The eight-point lead the Eagles finished the third set with was the largest lead of the frame...Maryville stayed within three points for most of the final set
- Humphrey led all players with six kills in the set, four of which coming on assists from senior Erika Peoples (Bloomington, Illinois)
- USI served up three more aces, one each from Cepicky, Peoples, and Yochum.
Notes
- USI posted a .264 hitting percentage in the match, led by Humphrey at .588 then Litteken at .538
- Five different Eagles finished with three or more kills: Humphrey, Litteken, Coleman, Hegg and Yochum in descending order
- Coleman and Hegg are tied for the lead among Eagles this season in blocks at 27
- Yochum and junior Lizzy Gardner (Lafayette, Indiana) accumulated 10 digs in the contest
- Cepicky and Peoples combined for 25 assists, finding their stride in the 6-2 scheme
