Eagles’ Senior Night spoiled by Bellarmine

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 25th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team had its Senior Night spoiled by seventh-ranked Bellarmine University, 93-48, Saturday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI, which saw its 20-game home winning streak snapped tonght, saw its overall record fall to 19-7, 10-4 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine goes to 21-2 overall, 12-2 GLVC.
 
The Screaming Eagles were never able to get going on either end of the floor as the Knight took both halves, 47-26 and 46-22, respectively. The Knights were a blistering 71.2 percent from the field (37-52) and 63.2 percent from long range (12-19) during the game.
 
USI senior guard Marcellous Washington (Lexington, Kentucky) led the Eagles with a team-high 16 points. He was seven-of-14 from the field and two-of-six from beyond the arc. Junior guard Alex Stein (Evansville, Indiana) followed Washington in the scoring column for USI with 11 points.
 
Following the game, USI honored its four seniors – Washington; forward DayJar Dickson (Washington, D.C.); center Davis Carter (Denver, Colorado); and forward Julius Rajala (Helsinki, Finland).
 
The Eagles will be on the road for the final four games of the 2017-18 season, visiting William Jewell College (February 15), Rockhurst University (February 17), the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (February 22), and Lewis University (February 24).
 
William Jewell watched its record go to 18-6 overall and 8-6 in the GLVC after posting an 84-69 victory at the University of Illinois Springfield this evening. USI is 5-0 versus William Jewell since the series started in 20011 and is 3-0 on the Cardinals' home court.
