USI hits the road to open regular season

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Basketball opens the 2018-19 regular season schedule Friday and Saturday in the Prairie Stars Tipoff Classic in Springfield, Illinois. The classic is being hosted by and at the University of Illinois Springfield.
 
The Screaming Eagles are slated to play Hillsdale College Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Malone University Saturday at 1 p.m. Game coverage for all of USI's regular season games, including live stats, video stream, and audio broadcasts, is available at GoUSIEagles.com. The games also can be heard on ESPN97.7FM and 95.7FM The Spin.
 
USI Men's Basketball in the Prairie Stars Tipoff Classic Quick Notes:
 
  • USI vs. Indiana, Butler in exhibitions. The University of Southern Indiana was 0-2 in the preseason exhibition games, falling to Indiana University 96-62, and Butler University, 79-58. Senior guard/forward Nate Hansen and junior guard/forward Kobe Caldwell led the Eagles versus Indiana with 13 points and 11 points, respectively, while senior guard Alex Stein and Hansen led the squad at Butler with 18 points and 15 points, respectively.

    On the glass, junior forward Hugues Mbumba grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds versus Indiana. Sophomore forward Emmanuel Little had the lead against Butler with a game-high eight rebounds.
     
  • USI vs. Hillsdale. USI leads the all-time series with Hillsdale, 2-1, in a series that dates back to the 1979-80 season. The Eagles won the first two meetings before the Chargers won last year, 77-70, in the G-MAC/GLVC Challenge in Canton, Ohio.
     
  • USI vs. Malone. The Eagles lead the all-time series with Malone, 2-0. USI won last year's match-up in the G-MAC/GLVC Challenge, 87-76, and the 2011-12 meeting, 83-47, at the PAC.
