Volleyball to Host Pair of GLVC Rematches

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Volleyball (8-10, 2-8 GLVC) returns home to the Physical Activities Center this weekend for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference rematches.

The Screaming Eagles will host No. 15 Lewis University Friday and the University of Indianapolis on Saturday.

The Hosts
 
  • The attack continues to be led by junior Elexis Coleman (Joliet, Illinois) in 2018 with a mark of 2.53 kills/set on a .288 hitting percentage...junior Amanda Jung (Belleville, Illinois) has stepped into the second-leading role for USI since last playing Lewis on September 15, having led two of the previous five matches in kills
  • The 6-2 scheme continues to use sophomore Casey Cepicky (St. Louis, Missouri) and senior Erika Peoples (Bloomington, Illinois) evenly for setting duties over the last five matches...They have combined for 9.26 assists/set, nearly splitting the average right down the middle, 4.76 and 4.50, respectively
  • Senior Haley Limper (Springfield, Illinois) and Cepicky have managed the opposing attack posting 3.38 and 2.64 digs/set, respectively this season...both players have raised their averages to 3.88 and 2.94, respectively, since last playing Lewis

  • The Flyers have went 2-2 since last facing the Eagles in Romeoville, Illinois, dropping matches to No. 12 Drury University and to UIndy, both on the road in five sets...Lewis currently sits tied for fifth in the GLVC standings amid a seven-team race at the halfway point
  • Alexandra Pruess is sixth in the GLVC in kills (3.69/set), leading the way for the Flyers since the conference season began...Pruess also holds the eighth-best match-high in the GLVC with 23 kills against Bellarmine University on September 14
  • Abby Becker remains as the primary setter, boasting 10.03 assists/set (sixth in the GLVC), while Caroline Stefanon is still a force at the net with 1.28 blocks/set (second in the GLVC)
  • Last time against the Eagles: Lewis took a three-set victory over USI on September 15...Stefanon led the offense with 13 kills on a .435 hitting mark, while Becker dished out 41 assists

  • The Greyhounds are tied with the Flyers in the GLVC standings thus far...UIndy has went 2-3 since the September 14 matchup with Eagles, falling to two nationally-ranked squads (No. 12 Drury and No. 20 Wheeling Jesuit University)
  • Katie Furlong continues to lead the attack with a GLVC-leading 4.45 kills/set pace...Furlong has four of the 10 best match highs for kills in the GLVC in 2018, including a mark of 29 kills on August 31 in just four sets
  • The Greyhounds also feature two of the top 10 in hitting percentage in conference play: Emily Ellis (fifth - .298) and Katie Voelz (seventh - .294)
  • Alyssa Spears continues to lead the GLVC with a mark of 11.34 assists/set this season as UIndy's primary setter
  • Olivia Martin sits third in the GLVC with 5.81 digs/set this season as the Greyhounds' libero
  • Last time against the Eagles: UIndy took a three-set victory in Indianapolis on September 14...Furlong posted 19 kills on a .432 attack percentage...Martin posted 21 digs and added two service aces

USI and the rest of the GLVC will participate in the Midwest Region Crossover next weekend in Indianapolis.
