EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Women's Basketball used a dominating fourth-quarter performance to earn a 70-50 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over visiting Truman State University Saturday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center.
After trailing 39-37 late in the third quarter, the No. 15/21 Screaming Eagles used a 26-4 run to bust open a game that had featured six ties and 11 lead changes in the first 30 minutes of the contest.
USI (15-2, 7-1 GLVC) shot 70.6 percent (12-17) in the fourth quarter and held the Bulldogs to just 26.7 percent (4-15) from the field as it outscored Truman 29-11 in the final 10 minutes.
Senior guard/forward
Kaydie Grooms (Marshall, Illinois) had 18 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four blocks to lead the Eagles. Grooms racked up 11 points, three rebounds, two blocks and two steals in the final 10 minutes alone as USI won its fourth straight game.
Junior guard
Alex Davidson (Salem, Indiana) added a career-high 17 points and seven rebounds, while senior forward
Morgan Dahlstrom (Grayslake, Indiana) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard
Randa Harshbarger (Philo, Illinois) and sophomore guard/forward Morgan Sherwood (Charleston, Illinois) each had eight points for USI, which shot 44.8 percent (30-67) for the game.
As a team, the Eagles racked up a season-high 11 blocks and outrebounded the Bulldogs, 46-37. They held Truman State to just 32.2 percent (19-59) shooting and just 26.7 percent (8-30) in the second half.
Freshman center Katie Jaseckas had nine points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs, who fall to 10-6 overall and 5-4 in GLVC play.
USI returns to action Thursday at 5:30 p.m. when it hosts the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at the PAC.

1st Quarter (USI 14-12)
The Eagles rallied from a six-point deficit to take a two-point lead at the end of a low-scoring opening period. Four different players scored at least three points in the first 10 minutes for the Eagles, who shot 35.7 percent (5-14) from the field.
2nd Quarter (TSU 14-12)
In a second quarter that featured five lead changes and a tie, it was a Truman three-pointer and a free throw that made the difference as the two teams went into the break in a 26-26 tie.
3rd Quarter (USI 15-13)
USI grabbed a slim lead in another back-and-forth period that featured five ties and five lead changes. Davidson had six points in the third period to lead the Eagles, who shot 36.8 percent from the field to take a 41-39 lead into the final 10 minutes.
4th Quarter (USI 29-11)
USI shot a blistering 70.6 percent (12-17) from the field in a dominating fourth quarter effort. Grooms scored 11 points in the final 10 minutes to lead the Eagles, who held the Bulldogs to just 4-of-15 (.322) from the field and 0-of-8 from three-point range.
