EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team returns to the road in the Great Lakes Valley Conference when it travels to Lewis University Friday and the University of Illinois Springfield Sunday. Kickoff is 5 p.m. versus Flyers in Romeoville, Illinois, and 2:30 p.m. against the Prairie Stars in Springfield, Illinois.

Week 5 Eagle Notes:
 
Eagles back on track after homestand: USI (4-2-2, 2-1-2 GLVC) got back on track during final game of its first homestand of the year, posting a 2-0 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The victory broke the Eagles three-match winless-streak and a run of three-straight double-overtime matches, including the 1-1 tie versus the University of Indianapolis in the 2017 home opener. The streak of three-straight double-overtime contests matched a stretch by the squad in 2006.
 
Hopkins moves up the all-time lists: With the 2-0 shutout of UW-Parkside, USI junior goalkeeper Emily Hopkins (Greenfield, Indiana) posted her third solo shutout of the season and moved into the fifth all-time in shutouts. Hopkins also moved into sixth all-time at USI with 154 career saves.    
 
Logjam for the scoring lead: The Eagles have a logjam at the top of the goal scoring column with three freshmen – defender Madelyne Juenger (Columbia, Illinois), forward Maggie Winter (St. Louis, Missouri), midfielder Sunny Lehman (Evansville, Indiana) – recording three goals each. Juenger has the team lead in overall points with nine on three goals and three assists, while Winter is second with eight points on three goals and two assists.
 
Eagles hold the all-time lead with Flyers: The Eagles have the lead in the all-time series with the Lewis Flyers, 14-5-2, after posting a 3-1 victory last year at Strassweg Field. USI and Lewis have split the last five matches with a tie to go with two wins and two losses each.
 
USI dominant with Illinois Springfield in all-time series: USI have been dominant in the all-time series with Illinois Springfield, posting a 7-0-1 mark in the eight matches. The Eagles won last year, 4-0, at Strassweg Field.
 
USI, Lewis, and Illinois Springfield in the GLVC: USI, which was picked to place ninth in the GLVC this season, is tied for fifth in the league with a .600 winning percent. Illinois Springfield (6-2-2, 3-2-1 GLVC), which predicted to place 14th, is percentage points behind USI (.583) in ninth, while Lewis (4-4-0, 3-3-0 GLVC), which was forecast for eighth, enters this week 10th in the league.
 
Schoenstein enters his second year: USI Head Coach Eric Schoenstein is in his second season as the head coach of the Eagles, producing a 13-11-3 mark (.537).
