EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team and the University of Illinois Springfield battled to a 1-1 double-overtime draw Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Illinois. USI goes to 4-2-4 overall and 2-1-4 in GLVC play, while Illinois Springfield ends the match 6-3-2 overall, 3-3-2 in the league.

The double-overtime match was the fifth in the last six games for USI, while the double-overtime tie was the fourth for the Screaming Eagles in the last five outings.

USI had command early in the match when senior forward Haley Rheinlander (Evansville, Indiana) scored at 9:36. The goal was Rheinlander's third of the season and ties her for the team lead.

Rheinlander, freshman defender Madelyne Juenger (Columbia, Illinois), freshman forward Maggie Winter (St. Louis, Missouri), and freshman midfielder Sunny Lehman (Evansville, Indiana) have three goals each this season.

In the second half, the Prairie Stars would battle back, outshooting the Eagles, 8-2, during the last 45 minutes and knotted the match at 1-1 with a goal at 86:39. Neither team would get another shot in regulation as the two squad headed for overtime.

In the extra periods, there was few offensive chances for both teams. The Stars lead with three shots, one in the first overtime and two in the second, while the Eagles were only able to manage one shot.

The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field Friday evening when they host Quincy University for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and start a two-match homestand. USI concludes the upcoming homestand next Sunday (October 8) against Truman State University.
