Hancock’s overtime goal gives Eagles a win

RENSSELAER, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana sophomore forward Ryley Hancock (Evansville, Indiana) scored 3:32 into overtime to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 1-0 victory over Saint Joseph's College Friday afternoon in Rensselaer, Indiana. USI watches its record rise to 6-4-0 overall and 3-4-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Saint Joseph's goes to 0-5-2, 0-4-2 GLVC.

Hancock scored her fourth goal of the season and the game-winner at 93:32 off a pass from junior forward Haley Rheinlander (Evansville, Indiana). The assist was Rheinlander's second of the year.

In the second half, USI continued to apply the pressure, but failed to find the back of the Saint Joseph's goal. The Eagles increased their lead in shots to 19-8 and the advantage in corner attacks, 5-2, before breaking through in the overtime period.

Between the posts, sophomore goalkeeper Emily Hopkins (Greenfield, Indiana) recorded her third win of the year and her first shutout. Hopkins faced 10 shots, making seven saves, in 93:32 minutes in the overtime contest.
