EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Volleyball returns to the road as it begins week two of the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule.
The Screaming Eagles (6-5, 1-1 GLVC) travel to Kirksville, Missouri, to take on Truman State University Friday at 7 p.m. before visiting Quincy University Saturday at 3 p.m. in Quincy, Illinois.

USI Volleyball Notes (9/20/16)
Last week: The Eagles went 1-2 last week, including 1-1 in their opening week of GLVC play. USI began the week with a three-set loss at Midwest Region foe Trevecca Nazarene University; then opened its home schedule with a three-set victory over GLVC foe William Jewell College. The Eagles ended the week with a tough five-set loss to defending NCAA II Midwest Region champion Rockhurst University.
Statistical leaders last week: Senior middle hitter
Amy Zwissler (Bloomington, Illinois) averaged 3.73 kills and 1.00 blocks per set to lead the Eagles in their three matches last week. Zwissler also hit .400 on the week.
Sophomore setter
Erika Peoples (Bloomington, Illinois) also had a big week, averaging 11.18 assists per set, including 11.75 assists per frame in GLVC play; while junior libero
Shannon Farrell (Munster, Indiana) averaged 5.55 digs per set.
Season statistical leaders: Freshman outside hitter
Mikaila Humphrey (Floyd Knobs, Indiana) leads the Eagles with 2.67 kills per set, while Peoples and Farrell lead USI with 9.76 assists and 5.07 digs per frame, respectively. Junior middle hitter
Te'Ayla Whitfield (Fort Wayne, Indiana) is averaging a team-high 0.95 blocks per frame, while Zwissler has a team-best .245 attacking percentage.
Farrell just six digs shy of 1,000: Junior libero
Shannon Farrell (Munster, Indiana) needs just six digs to become the 11th-player in program history to reach career dig No. 1,000. Farrell entered last week's play needing 65 digs to reach the milestone, but racked up 59 digs in three matches to get in position to notch her 1,000th career dig this week.
Even distribution: Sophomore setter
Erika Peoples (Bloomington, Illinois) did a nice job of distributing the ball in USI's first two GLVC matches. She had five different hitters finish with at least 17 attack attempts during USI's three-set win over William Jewell, with freshman outside hitter
Mikaila Humphrey (Floyd Knobs, Indiana) leading the contingent with 25 attack attempts.
In USI's five-set loss to Rockhurst, USI had five different players record at least 33 attack attempts, with Humphrey topping out at 45.
Scouting the opposition: Truman State, which visits Northwest Missouri State University Tuesday, enters this week's action with a 2-8 overall record and a 1-1 mark in GLVC play; while Quincy, which hosts Lindenwood University Tuesday and Bellarmine University Friday, begins the week with a 5-5 overall record and a 1-1 mark in GLVC action.
Five-set thrillers: USI won back-to-back five-set thrillers versus Quincy and Truman State last year at the PAC.
