EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Senior middle blocker Abbey Winter (Germantown, Illinois) slammed down 13 kills and had four blocks as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball teams defeated Midwest Region foe Northwood University (Michigan), 25-19, 25-19, 25-15, in its second match of the Dunn Hospitality Invitational Friday night.

Winter racked up a blistering .565 attacking percentage and finished with 16.5 points as USI dominated the contest on the offensive end.

Junior setter Quin Shoultz (Columbus, Indiana) had 31 assists and set the Screaming Eagles' attack to a .324 hitting percentage, while senior right side hitter Erica Oberbroeckling (Westfield, Indiana) finished with nine kills and 10 digs.

Sophomore libero Shannon Farrell (Munster, Indiana) had a match-high 23 digs as USI held the Timberwolves to a .136 attacking percentage.

USI (2-0) used runs of 11-3 and 12-2 to pull away from the Timberwolves in the first and second sets, respectively. The Eagles jumped out to an early five-point lead in the third frame; then capitalized on a Northwood substitution miscue, which resulted in a three-point swing, later in the frame to close the door on its opponent.

Earlier in the day, USI defeated Midwest Region foe Kentucky Wesleyan College 25-13, 26-24, 25-23 to open their 2015 campaign. Winter had 15 kills and hit .636, while Shoultz had 38 assists. Freshman outside hitter Shelbi Morris (Brazil, Indiana) added 14 kills and a .440 attacking percentage, while Farrell finished with 17 digs.
