Eagles set to battle in-state rivals

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team returns home this weekend for a pair of conference clashes against in-state rivials.. To open the weekend, the Screaming Eagles host the University of Indianapolis on Friday at 7:30 pm. USI wraps up the weekend with a Sunday afternoon battle with Saint Joseph's College at 2:30 pm at Strassweg Field.

The Eagles finished last weekend's roadtrip wit a record of 0-1-1. USI dropped the first contest of the weekend 3-1 to 7th-ranked Rockhurst University before earning a 2-2 draw with William Jewell College to end the weekend.
  
USI takes on the Indianapolis Greyhounds on Friday at Strassweg Field. The Greyhounds enter the weekend with a 3-3-2 overall mark and a 2-2-2 record in the GLVC. Students attending Friday night's conference doubleheader will receive a free concession stand combo meal (hot dog, chips, and a bottled drink) with a valid student ID.
 
Following the Friday showdown with Indianapolis, the Eagles face off against the Pumas of Saint Joseph's College on Sunday. The Pumas currently sit 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

Week 5 Notes: 
 
Offensive firepower:  After netting two goals last weekend, USI sits 65th in NCAA DII in goals per game (1.88). Senior Josh Weinzapfel (Evansville, Indiana) leads the Eagles with four goals and three assists, while freshman Kasper Bjoro (Oslo, Norway) has three goals and is tied for 26th in the nation with two game-winning goals.

Santoro begins his seventh year. USI Head Coach Mat Santoro has a 46-54-10 overall record at USI.

USI versus the Greyhounds: The Eagles lead the all-time series with Indianapolis 20-11-0.
 
USI versus the Pumas: USI leads the all-time series with Saint Joseph's 21-4-2, including victories in the last three matchups with the Pumas.
