EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team dropped its home opener to McKendree University in overtime, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI sees its record fall to 2-1-1 and 1-1-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while McKendree rises to 2-1-1, 1-1-0 GLVC.

Kennedy Moore (Evansville, Indiana) started the scoring with a tally at 29:08, her first of her collegiate career. She was assisted on the goal by freshman midfielder
Olivia Wilde (Racine, Wisconsin). McKendree rallied late in the half to pull even at 1-1 with a tally at 42:24.
In the second half, USI and McKendree continued to battle back and forth, but neither team was able to score and set the stage for overtime. The Bearcats broke the 1-1 tie with a "golden goal" tally at 4:17 into the overtime period and left Strassweg Field with the 2-1 win. McKendree outshot USI, 12-5, in the final 49 minutes of the contest.

Emily Hopkins (Greenfield, Indiana) allowed the two goals, but made nine saves in the loss. Hopkins becomes the first USI goalkeeper to start her career with four-straight overtime contests.
The Eagles continue its three-game homestand Friday at 5 p.m. when they host Missouri University of Science & Technology before concluding the home series with Drury University September 20 at noon.
