LEBANON, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team was held to a season-low .053 attacking percentage as it suffered a 23-25, 13-25, 21-25 Great Lakes Valley Conference setback to host McKendree University Friday night.
Outside of a late run in the opening set, nothing seemed to go right for the Screaming Eagles, who suffered their second straight loss.
USI (10-4, 3-2 GLVC) rallied from a five-point deficit late in the opening frame to forge a 22-22 tie; but the Bearcats won three of the final four rallies to earn a two-point win and a 1-0 lead in the match. The Eagles had a negative .031 attacking percentage in the first frame, marking their worst hitting percentage in a set this season.
McKendree (9-5, 4-1 GLVC) used a 7-1 run to open the second frame; then had an 8-0 run later in the set to build a commanding 21-6 advantage. The Bearcats posted a match-high .407 attacking percentage in the second frame to build a 2-0 lead in the match. USI hit .000 in the second stanza.
The Eagles, who hit .194 in the third frame, rallied from a six-point deficit in the third set to close to within a single point on three different occasions. The Bearcats, however, closed the game with a 4-1 run to complete the three-set sweep. McKendree hit .286 in the third set and .224 for the match.

The Eagles return to action Saturday at 3 p.m. when they visit the University of Illinois Springfield. The Prairie Stars (4-10, 2-3 GLVC) defeated Bellarmine University in five sets Friday night in Springfield, Illinois.
