Eagles wrap up four-game road swing, begin busy stretch

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team closes its season-long four-game road trip while simultaneously opening its busiest stretch of the 2014-15 campaign Thursday and Saturday as it visits Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division foes Saint Joseph's College and the University of Indianapolis.

USI tips off against Saint Joseph's Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Rensselaer, Indiana, before traveling to Indianapolis for a noon (CST) tip-off Saturday. Both games can be heard on WPRS 90.7 FM, while live stats, audio, and video (Saturday only) can be accessed at gousieagles.com.

Thursday's game against Saint Joseph's begins a busy stretch for the Screaming Eagles, who play three games in five days and five in a 10-day span.

Following their trip to Saint Joseph's and Indianapolis, the Eagles return the Physical Activities Center to host Bellarmine University Monday at 5:15 p.m.; the University of Wisconsin-Parkside January 22; and No. 1 Lewis University January 24.

USI (11-3, 3-1 GLVC) began its four-game road trip with a 64-54 setback to No. 14 Drury University last Thursday. The Eagles, though, rebounded with a 75-55 win over Missouri University of Science & Technology.

Senior forward/center Anna Hackert (Evansville, Indiana) averaged 13.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest to lead the Eagles last week. Hackert is currently sixth in the GLVC with 15.4 points per game, while her 11.6 rebounds per outing are second in the conference.

Saint Joseph's (4-10, 1-4 GLVC) is looking to put an end to a three-game skid that included losses to Drury, Rockhurst University, and William Jewell College. Sophomore forward Kalea Parks leads the Pumas, who have lost their last four meetings with USI, with 17.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.

Indianapolis (6-7, 3-2 GLVC), which hosts Bellarmine Thursday night, rebounded from a 30-point setback at William Jewell last week to defeat Rockhurst, 60-52, this past Saturday. Senior guard Kelly Walter and junior guard Princess German lead the Greyhounds with 15.4 and 14.2 points per game, respectively.

USI won both meetings with UIndy a year ago. The Eagles won the first meeting, 73-44, at the PAC despite playing without Hackert. They claimed the second meeting, 69-54, in Indianapolis.
