EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team could not recover from a six-point swing in the open set of its Great Lakes Valley Conference match Saturday against the University of Indianapolis as the Screaming Eagles suffered a 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 setback to the visiting Greyhounds at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (7-4, 3-3 GLVC) jumped out to a quick 12-6 lead in the opening frame, but a six-point Greyhounds' spurt evened the set. The two teams traded points for a brief time, but a 4-0 UIndy run gave the Greyhounds a 21-17 advantage they would not relinquish.

UIndy (6-5, 5-1 GLVC) used an early 8-0 run to establish control of the second set. The Greyhounds attacked at a .333 clip and recorded 12 kills in the frame as they built a double-digit advantage before settling on the 25-17 win.

The Eagles grabbed an early advantage in the third set, but a 5-0 UIndy spurt landed USI in a 13-8 hole. USI trailed 16-10 before chiseling the deficit to three; but that was as close as the Eagles would get as UIndy finished the frame with another 5-0 run for the match-clinching eight-point victory.

Senior outside hitters Lauren DeShaney (Appleton, Wisconsin) and Fawn Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) slammed down 11 and 10 kills, respectively, to pace the Eagles' attack. Ryan added six digs and four blocks, while freshman libero Jessica Lee (Mackinaw, Illinois) had a team-high 10 digs.

USI continues its season-long six-match homestand Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it takes on Bellarmine University at the PAC. The Knights (5-5, 2-4 GLVC) are coming off a three-set sweep of Saint Joseph's College Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
