EVANSVILLE, Ind.---University of Southern Indiana senior outside hitter
Fawn Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) put down a career-high 20 kills to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 3-0 sweep of visiting St. Joseph's College Friday evening at the Physical Activities Center. Ryan was 20 –for-27 committing just one error, ending the night with a .704 attacking percentage.

USI improves to 7-3 overall, 3-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Pumas fall to 1-4 in conference play, 3-8 overall.

The Eagles came out firing on all cylinders, posting a season-high .396 attacking percentage while limiting SJC to a .149 attack, thanks in part to a match-high 10 team blocks, three of which were solos, lead by sophomore middle blocker
Amy Zwissler (Bloomington, Indiana) who came up with two, and totaled four on the night.

Abbey Winter (Germantown, Illinois) led at the net with five total blocks, while also adding seven kills, and a team-high four service aces. Defensively, freshmen
Jessica Lee (Mackinaw, Illinois) and
Shelbi Morris (Brazil, Indiana) tallied 19 digs while sophomore
Quin Shoultz (Columbus, Indiana) led with a match-high 36 assists.

Up 24-22 in the opening frame and hoping for the set point, USI was blindsided with back-to-back kills by the visiting Pumas, forcing the extra points. After a back-and-forth battle, the Eagles claimed the set, 28-26, thanks to a kill by Morris.

USI dominated the second set outhitting St. Joseph's, .407 to .087. The second frame featured seven kills by Ryan, who committed her only error of the night, for a .667 attacking percentage. The Eagles grabbed the 2-0 lead heading into the break with a 25-14 win.

The Eagles quickly wrapped up the third set with another 25-14 win, with Ryan producing eight kills off 10 attacks.

USI returns to action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. hosting the Greyhounds of University of Indianapolis in game two of its six-match homestand. The Eagles face Bellarmine University, Tuesday, before taking on University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis University October 3 and 4, and close out the home series with a non-conference matchup against Kentucky State University September 8.
