EVANSVILLE, Ind.--- The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team starts a season-long six-match homestand when it welcomes Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division opponents St. Joseph's College and University of Indianapolis to the Physical Activities Center. The Screaming Eagles open up against the Pumas Friday at 7 p.m. before facing the Greyhounds the following afternoon at 3 p.m.
Also included in USI's homestand are matches against Bellarmine University, University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Lewis University, and a non-conference meeting with Kentucky State University.
USI looks to bounce back: The Eagles (6-3, 2-2 GLVC) are looking to bounce back after last week's trip out west ended in a split. USI took Drury University in four sets before ending its road trip with a three-set loss to Missouri University of Science & Technology.
Team leaders: Senior outside hitters
Fawn Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) and
Lauren DeShaney (Appleton, Wisconsin) lead the Eagles' attack with 84 kills apiece and averaging 2.90 kills/set. Junior middle blocker
Abbey Winter (Germantown, Illinois) leads the team at the net, in serving, and total points scored, averaging 1.28 blocks/set, .58 service aces/set and 3.52 points/set. Keeping the pace on the court is sophomore setter
Quin Shoultz (Columbus, Indiana) averaging 9.29 assists/sets, while freshman libero
Jessica Lee (Mackinaw, Illinois) leads the defense averaging 4.31 digs/set.
Puma notes: Saint Joseph's (3-7, 1-3 GLVC) comes to Evansville after losing in straight-sets to both Rockhurst University and William Jewell College last week.
Greyhound notes: Indianapolis (4-5, 3-1 GLVC) faces Bellarmine University before making its way to Evansville for Sunday's match against the Eagles.
